Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Provide individual and small group instruction and remedial assistance to elementary grade students (grades K-6) at one of the designated sites off campus – Dundee Elementary School (approximately 17 miles from campus one way) or Penn Yan Elementary School or St. Michael’s School (approximately 4 miles from campus one way). Responsible for their own transportation to and from the site. Will be paid for their actual “driving time” from Keuka College campus to site (30 minutes each way to Dundee or 15 minutes each way to Penn Yan). Develop and create instructional materials, gain experience working with elementary-aged students, and develop skills in maintaining accurate written records.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Work directly with elementary grade students (K-6th grade) at a site off campus.
  • Report to and work with classroom teacher to support individual students.
  • Develop appropriate Math and Literacy instructional and practice materials appropriate to the needs of the students.
  • Maintain & submit written records of work with individual students.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary trainings and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision and values and adhering to institutional policies.
  • Maintain high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Eligible for a Federal work-study award or a Keuka work-study award.
  2. Keuka College student in the traditional on-campus undergraduate program.
  3. Must be in good academic and judicial standing.
  4. Education majors preferred but not required or have experience or a true passion in elementary school tutoring.
  5. Prefer students who are currently taking or have successfully completed instructional methods course(s).
  6. Willing and able to work with elementary age students.
  7. Able to work with minimal supervision.
  8. Able to maintain written communication.
  9. Knowledge of literacy, math and writing skills.
  10. Able to research and create a variety of instructional materials.
  11. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher (required).
Physical Requirements
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
