Position Summary Information

Position Summary

To assist the Office of Global Academic Initiatives (GAI), located in the lower level of Lightner Library, with a variety of support and to serve all international students during their time at Keuka College including but not limited to GAI campus wide educational programs and events, departmental collaboration, and special projects. This position is a significant leading role that assists, introduces, and supports new international students as they arrive to New York State and to the Keuka College campus. In addition, this position supports the operations and logistics of the International Student Orientation (ISO), English as a Second Language (ESL) programming, and continuation into the academic semester/year.

Essential Responsibilities
  • General office/clerical duties, including but not limited to, answering phones, filing, typing, errands, and customer service.
  • Enhance ability to communicate and work with students, staff and faculty effectively.
  • May assist incoming F-1 and/or J-1 international students, including undergraduate and graduate exchange or degree seeking students, during International Student Orientation (ISO) and/or GAI/ESL educational programming.
  • Offer back-up support role to the supervisor when necessary.
  • Create filers and promotional material to inform and promote information to all constituents of the College community relating to the Office of Global Academic Initiatives (GAI).
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary trainings and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision and values and adhering to institutional policies.
  • Maintain high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Eligible for Federal work-study award or a Keuka work-study award.
  2. A Keuka College student in the traditional undergraduate on-campus program.
  3. Minimum GPA of 2.5 preferred.
  4. College work-study experience preferred.
  5. Culturally sensitive (international experience preferred).
  6. Proficiency in MS Office Suite of products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, including ability to create aesthetically pleasing marketing/promotional materials preferred.
  7. Technology proficient.
  8. Committed to broadening the global perspective of self and Keuka College.
  9. A self-starter, dependable and adaptable with flexible schedule.
  10. Knowledgeable in programming events and workshops preferred.
  11. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  12. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
  13. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
  14. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours required.
