Position Summary Information

Job Summary

The Director of Institutional Assessment will facilitate and oversee college-wide assessment activities for all academic program and non-instructional units. The Director will provide training and support to faculty and staff, academic program chairs, college committees, and college units to plan, implement, and evaluate meaningful assessment activities. The Director will work closely with faculty in formulating and refining student learning outcomes on the course, program, and institutional level and in selecting appropriate measures for student learning outcomes. The Director also works with non-academic departments to develop and promote assessment strategies to foster educational improvement and institutional effectiveness. Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead the college-wide Institutional Effectiveness Committee (IEC)
  • Work intensively with academic programs, in a variety of delivery formats, to develop assessment plans, implementation, and assessment tools, including rubrics, capstone assessment, exit interviews, etc.
  • Support and improve assessment processes for the general education program to improve student learning
  • Work closely with non-instructional programs to develop, maintain, and conduct effective outcomes assessment activities
  • Assist faculty with design of outcomes-based instructional materials
  • Assist faculty and administrative staff with data analysis, reporting mechanisms, and writing reports
  • Develop workshops and resource materials to help faculty and staff improve classroom and program assessment practices, across all programs (traditional, adult degree completion, international programs) and formats (traditional, accelerated format, online offerings)
  • Review accreditation standards and prepare, maintain, and disseminate information and reports related to accreditation for the College (Middles States Commission on Higher Education, New York State Education Department, professional program accreditations, etc.)
  • Review and revise guidelines for the annual assessment program
  • Provide feedback, guidance, and writing assistance, as needed, on assessment plans and reports
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of academic program reviews, annual assessment reports, and other accreditation-related materials
  • Develop program quality improvement measures with relevant groups and implement across all units
  • Provide institutional data and findings from research and assessment to support institutional planning processes
  • Support the implementation of outcomes-based programmatic and student learning assessment across all degree programs
  • Produce materials for the Institutional Assessment portal site
  • Monitor, evaluate and assess program and institutional effectiveness (graduation completion rates, retention, student satisfaction surveys)
  • Provide institutional data and assessment findings for external reporting
  • Eventual coordination of college-wide compliance activities for institutional accreditation as well as to meet compliance requirements, such as the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA)
  • Promote and sustain a participative and transformative assessment culture
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary trainings and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies.
  • Maintain a high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Doctorate in social sciences, educational research, or related field preferred; Master’s required
  2. Previous experience/training in outcomes assessment
  3. Minimum of three to five years’ experience in higher education
  4. A broad knowledge of assessment and program evaluation literature
  5. Demonstrated effectiveness in developing and implementing assessment methods, strategic planning, student learning assessment, academic development, and curriculum review
  6. Successful candidates must possess experience in outcomes assessment in higher education and familiarity with accreditation requirements and process
  7. Excellent verbal and written communications (verbal and writing) skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and skill in use of database and statistical analysis software
  8. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  9. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
  10. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
  11. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
