Job Description Summary

The Assistant Professor of Social Work is a Non-Tenure Track, 10-month faculty position in the Social Work Division. This position is responsible for teaching BSW courses on campus and at our community sites, as well as fulfill the requirements of the Field Director role. The Assistant Professor of Social Work, BSW Field Director is charged by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) to provide leadership in the on-going development and implementation of the BSW field education program, in accordance with field education accrediting standards. This requires teaching at least two 3 credit courses per semester. The BSW Field Director directs and coordinates all aspects of undergraduate field education and practicum experience. This individual collaborates with the MSW Field Director and other field staff on the implementation of the Field Education Program. The Assistant Professor of Social Work, BSW Field Director teaches and/or coordinates with the faculty teaching the generalist (foundation) seminar. Position must produce complex reports, maintain program data, teach assigned courses, and oversee Field Staff.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all CSWE field education accreditation standards.
  • Provide administrative and curriculum oversight of Undergraduate Field Education.
  • Develop generalist (foundation) field education sites.
  • Prepare, place, and monitor students at practicum agencies.
  • Create and oversee the establishment of contracts with practicum sites.
  • Develop and implement evaluation instruments in conjunction with the Program Evaluation Committee and the Field Office.
  • Serve as the BSW Program contact and resource person for agency practicum supervisors.
  • Deliver course instruction in traditional, accelerated, and online formats a minimum of 6 credits per semester.
  • Meet with students to review their resumes and applications for practicum in preparation for agency selection.
  • Contacts appropriate agencies to discuss possible practicum placements, identifies field supervisor at each site.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Social Work Division, administration, and staff to ensure program quality.
  • Meet other program needs as directed by the Division Chair, and Program Director.
  • Assist the Division Chair in the accreditation processes.
  • Participate in periodic Field Office and Social Work Division meetings and related activities.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary trainings and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Minimum of a MSW with two years’ post MSW direct practice experience from a CSWE accredited school. A Ph.D. is strongly preferred in Social Work or a related field.
  2. Licensed or licensed-eligible as a master social worker.
  3. Teaching experience in higher education, preferably encompassing a traditional, accelerated, and hybrid format with both , and non-traditional students.
  4. Experience in social work field education or as a social work field instructor or task supervisor.
  5. Advanced knowledge of social work practice.
  6. Computer experience with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Docs.
  7. Experience with Course and Learning Management Software (i.e. Blackboard, Moodle) in support of online coursework.
  8. Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  9. Ability to work independently, manage and prioritize multiple tasks and have a high tolerance for ambiguity.
  10. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  11. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
  12. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
  13. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
