Position Summary Information

Job Summary

The Field Practicum Assistant will represent Keuka College with regard to Social Work Field Practicum including working with students and faculty. This position’s primary responsibilities include participation in the full scope of Field Practicum as it pertains to placement of students, documentation, follow up and training. This position will also maintain current relationships with placement sites as well as participate in the development of new relationships among placement sites across New York State.

Essential Responsibilities
  • 6 months before student begins placement – meet with advisor to discuss student learning needs/goals for field practicum.
  • Assist Field Directors and Advisors with matching students with possible practicum placement sites.
  • Assist Field Directors and Advisors with field practicum site development in diverse geographic regions.
  • Assist students with becoming interview ready for field practicum placements.
  • Provide follow up with students through successful placement arrangements and during placement at site.
  • Assist with coordinating and conducting field instructor orientation.
  • Field Assistant will attend ongoing meetings with Field Directors.
  • Field Assistant will be required to travel to Keuka College (main campus) for the majority of tasks and to attend face to face meetings with Field Directors.
  • Report directly to the Field Directors and Division Chair.
  • Field Directors will provide oversight of field staff activities and provide direct supervision to Field Assistant.
  • Report hours to Division Chair each week.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary training’s and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision and values and adhering to institutional policies.
  • Maintain high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in Social Work preferred.
  2. Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
  3. Ability to meet deadlines, travel and work independently.
  4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  5. Proficient as an end-user of computer programs such as email, internet applications, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access), and other relational databases.
  6. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  7. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
  8. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
  9. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
