Position Summary Information

Job Summary

The Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Keuka College seeks an adjunct instructor to teach ENV 105 – Environmental Science. The instructor will be responsible for 3 hours of lecture per week beginning Monday, August 28, until the end of the semester, as well as other duties such as office hours, course preparation, and student assessment. Additional laboratory sections of ENV 105 are available for instruction as well. Experience teaching Environmental Science and/or related fields such as chemistry, physics, biology, and earth science is preferred. The individual must have graduate coursework in relevant sciences.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Teach ENV 105, which consists of 3 hours of lecture per week, plus office hours, course preparation, and student assessment. * Additional labs (consisting of 2 contact hours each) can be assigned as required.
  • Work with the laboratory instructor to provide a cohesive and complementary lecture-lab experience.
  • Work with division faculty as needed to ensure effectiveness within the position.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies and procedures in a positive and professional manner.
  • Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary trainings and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision and values and adhering to institutional policies.
  • Maintain high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Master’s degree in Environmental Science or a relevant field is required.
  2. Experience teaching Environmental Science and/or related fields such as chemistry, physics, biology, and earth science is preferred.
  3. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  4. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
  5. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
  6. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional lifting of boxes, supplies, etc., generally less than 30lbs.
  • Some evening and weekend hours required.
